Terms of service

1. Agreement to terms
By accessing or using SingleFocus ("the Service"), operated by SingleFocus ("we," "us," "our"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2. Description of service
SingleFocus is a web-based task management application that implements GTD (Getting Things Done) methodology. The Service includes task creation, project management, perspectives, weekly review, and related productivity features accessible through a web browser.
3. Accounts
- You must provide a valid email address to create an account.
- You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials.
- You must be at least 16 years old to use the Service.
- One person may not maintain more than one free account.
- You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
4. Your content
You retain full ownership of all content you create in SingleFocus, including tasks, projects, notes, and any other data ("Your Content").
- We do not claim any intellectual property rights over Your Content.
- You grant us a limited license to store, process, and display Your Content solely to provide the Service to you.
- You may export Your Content at any time in JSON, CSV, or Markdown format.
- Upon account deletion, Your Content is permanently removed within 30 days.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable laws.
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Service or its infrastructure.
- Interfere with or disrupt the Service or servers connected to it.
- Use automated means (bots, scrapers) to access the Service outside of the official REST API. Authorized API access with a valid token is permitted and encouraged — see Section 6.
- Resell, sublicense, or redistribute the Service without authorization.
6. API usage
SingleFocus provides a public REST API and MCP (Model Context Protocol) endpoint for authorized integrations:
- API access requires a valid API token generated in your account Settings.
- Requests are rate-limited to 100 per minute per token. Exceeding this limit will result in temporary throttling (HTTP 429).
- You may use the API to build personal automations, integrate with tools like Zapier, Make, or n8n, and connect AI assistants via MCP.
- You may not use the API to build a competing service, scrape other users’ data, or circumvent account limits.
- We reserve the right to revoke API tokens that violate these terms or degrade service for other users.
7. Shared lists and guest access
SingleFocus allows you to create shared lists accessible to guests via a unique link:
- Guests can view, add, and check off items without creating an account.
- You are responsible for the content of shared lists you create and the links you distribute.
- Shared list links act as access tokens — anyone with the link can access the list. You can regenerate or revoke the link at any time.
- We do not collect personal data from guests beyond what is necessary to display and update the shared list.
8. AI and smart features
SingleFocus includes optional AI-powered features:
- On-device behavioral models — SingleFocus builds lightweight machine learning models from your task completion patterns to power focus suggestions, productivity rhythm analysis, and smart defer suggestions. These models are stored in your account and never shared.
- AI enrichment (opt-in) — When you enable AI suggestions in Settings, task titles and project names may be sent to Anthropic (Claude) to generate enrichment suggestions, focus pick reasons, and voice transcript corrections. This is off by default. Full task notes are not sent. See our privacy policy for details.
- AI suggestions are provided as-is. We do not guarantee their accuracy or appropriateness for any particular workflow.
9. Pricing and payments
SingleFocus is currently free during the early access period. When paid plans are introduced:
- Early access users who signed up before paid plans launch will receive 50% off the standard price for as long as they maintain an active subscription.
- Prices may change with 30 days' notice to existing subscribers.
- You may cancel your subscription at any time. Access continues until the end of your current billing period.
- Refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis. Contact us within 14 days of a charge for a refund request.
10. Service availability
We strive to keep SingleFocus available 24/7 but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. The Service may be temporarily unavailable for maintenance, updates, or due to circumstances beyond our control. We will make reasonable efforts to notify users of planned downtime in advance.
11. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, SingleFocus shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of data, profits, or business opportunities, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you have paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.
12. Disclaimer of warranties
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
13. Termination
- You may close your account at any time through the app settings.
- We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, with notice where practical.
- Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately. Your Content will be deleted per our privacy policy.
14. Changes to terms
We may modify these Terms at any time. Material changes will be communicated via email at least 30 days before taking effect. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
15. Governing law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Hungary. Any disputes arising from these Terms or the Service shall be resolved in the courts of Budapest, Hungary. If you are a consumer in the EU/EEA, this does not affect your right to bring proceedings in your country of residence under applicable consumer protection laws.
